A Jewel of Kings Quarter, Making Headlines

Hotel 1829, proudly perched above Charlotte Amalie, was recently featured in the October edition of St. Thomas Magazine. Recognized for its unique blend of history, culture, and hospitality, Hotel 1829 continues to capture the hearts of locals and travelers alike. Built in 1829 as a grand residence and transformed into a hotel in 1906, this landmark has stood the test of time — and today it remains one of the most iconic destinations in the Virgin Islands.

As the only property in the U.S. Virgin Islands recognized by Historic Hotels of America, Hotel 1829 isn’t just a place to stay — it’s a living piece of history. Guests are welcomed with sweeping harbor views, and can also visit the hotel’s bar — the oldest bar in St. Thomas.

Sundays Are for Brunch

The magazine spotlight also highlighted one of Hotel 1829’s newest traditions: Sunday Brunch. From 10 AM to 2 PM, guests and locals can savor signature island-inspired dishes and sips, including:

  • Bananas Foster Flapjacks – drizzled with Cruzan dark rum, vanilla, and cinnamon butter

  • Jerk Waffle & Chicken – pecan-crusted, topped with bourbon butter syrup

  • Classic Caribbean Breakfast – saltfish, sautéed okra and spinach, johnny cake, and boiled egg

  • 1829 Coffee – espresso blended with Cruzan vanilla rum & cream

  • Bush Tea – lemongrass, mint & tarragon brewed island-style

Whether it’s a casual meal with friends or a weekend getaway, brunch at Hotel 1829 captures the true flavor of St. Thomas.

Haunted Mansion Halloween Party

This October, the spotlight also shines on Hotel 1829’s Haunted Mansion Halloween Party — a can’t-miss event blending spooky fun with island nightlife. On Friday, October 31, from 7 PM to 11 PM, the historic property transforms into a haunted house, complete with:

  • Ghost tours that bring centuries of island history to life

  • Halloween cocktail specials crafted at the iconic Rumpourium bar

  • Costume contests with prizes for the boldest looks

  • Live DJ sets by DJ Legit, keeping the party alive into the night

With spooky corners, themed bites, and centuries of stories within its walls, Hotel 1829 proves that history and celebration go hand in hand.
